Matches & Ratings
DUPR is the most accurate global rating system trusted by the world’s premier Pickleball clubs, tours, and professionals. Learn more about how it works below
DUPR is free and anyone can have a rating. One match result is all it takes to have a DUPR rating, and with 10-20 match results you will have an even more accurate rating.
If you’ve ever played in a Pickleball tournament, you might already have a DUPR rating and can claim your account at mydupr.com or by downloading the iOS or Android app.
DUPR is a modified Elo algorithm that uses a player’s last rating to update their new rating. The algorithm considers three factors: 1. Victory: Did you win or lose? If you win, your rating will go up and if you lose, your rating will go down.
2. Type of Result: Was this a self-posted rec play score, a club match, or a tournament result entered by DUPR? Rec play games will count less towards your rating change. 3. Rating Difference of Opponent: If your opponent is higher than you and you win, you’ll increase more than if your opponent is lower rated and vice versa.
4. Match Score: Was this match closely contested or a blow out? If you win by a large margin, you will go up more than if you barely close out your opponent.
5. Match Count and Recency: Do you have a lot of recent matches? If you have many recent matches, each individual match will have a smaller impact than if you only have a few matches or have not logged matches in some time.
DUPR is statistically the most accurate Pickleball rating system in the world and the only Universal system, meaning that all players regardless of their age, gender or skill are on the same scale. DUPR is the only system that will feature a Reliability Score (coming soon), that doubly ensures fair play and no “sandbagging”. DUPR is the only system that takes into account all results that we have for each player, coming from different sources.
Tournament, club, and league matches impact your rating more than self-posted scores. The greater number of sets in matches also wields a more significant influence on your rating.
The more expected a match result is, the less it will impact your rating. For example, if you win as the favorite, you will go up less than if you win as the underdog.
We encourage you to play against similarly rated players, which gives both teams the opportunity to have a bigger impact with a win.
For a tournament or club match, a player goes up or down based on winning or losing the full match, and the amount the player moves is based on their expected chances of winning. The number of games the match is out of affects this expected value calculated.
For example, the favorite is more likely to win a best 3 out of 5 match than just 1 game, and the formula is adjusted accordingly.
For a self-input match, the player goes up or down with each game played since these matches are often on a game by game basis due to the nature of rec play. We do not look at these self-input games on a match basis as they could end in a tie with respect to games won.
All matches that are uploaded into DUPR with the minimum number of points (6) will count toward your DUPR rating. We are connecting with other pickleball softwares to provide our rating on their platforms and upload their results immediately. If you don’t see your results from an event, we kindly ask you to reach out to the tournament or club directors and request them to fill out this form with the link of the event.
This could mean the tournament/club director/organizer did not upload the match results to DUPR.
This could also mean a tournament/club director created a new account for you by mistake or you created a new account instead of "claiming your profile" with your existing results. In either case, we need to merge your new account with your existing account. Simply fill out this form and our support team will help you. Please include the url to each of the profiles and mention which email address you want associated with your account.

An unrated player is given a rating after their first match based on the level of the rated players and their performance against those players. After their first match, they can expect that rating to fluctuate with their next few matches, then begin to stabilize to reflect their level. Rated players that play against an NR player will receive the impact from that match. Generally, the amount a player moves depends on the match count and recency of the other players, so you should not expect to move a great deal if you play against an NR player and you have many recent matches.
If all players are unrated, we do not know the level of the match, so we take a guess that the level is 3.5. The outcome of the match will push one team above 3.5 and the other below to properly reflect the levels displayed by the scores of the match. With each player’s next few matches, they will be able to move quickly toward their appropriate level, especially once they are playing rated players around their skill level.
It is important to note that your rating will fluctuate based on any edits made to matches you played in, and that is completely normal. Your rating could have moved due to the following reasons: A match you played in ...
....was added, perhaps some time after it was played.
....was deleted, perhaps due to duplication.
...had the incorrect score that was corrected.
...had an incorrect player replaced with the correct player.
...had a player who had two accounts that were merged.
...had some other error that needed to be fixed.
DUPR is dedicated to upholding the accuracy of our players' ratings to the best of our ability.
